Addressing a reader’s comment about IHOP

Posted: March 27, 2010 in Deception, Discernment, False doctrines, IHOP, Judgement, Truth

I received a comment on a blog post today which I hesitated at first whether or not to approve since I am careful about what I allow to be posted on my blog but then decided this one touched on some of the same objections that I have heard at different times and thought it worth opening up in a blog post so that I can address them at once for other blog readers as well. I have made the blog commenter anonymous to protect their identity.

Their comment:

i understand what you’re saying about IHOP, but in all honesty, what right do you have judging their methods? am i saying they’re perfect, and am i defending what they’re doing? not necessarily. what i am saying is that we ALL have common sense that God gave us as human beings, and we ALL have the ability to look at things objectively. i’m not going to sit here and say that i haven’t been helped by the ministry at IHOP, or that there aren’t certain elements at IHOP that can appear to be a form of witchcraft. i’m most certainly not going to judge them for that.

what you have to remember is that IHOP is run by imperfect people that are most likely all dealing with their own sets of issues. just because you or i don’t hear about it all the time doesn’t mean it’s not happening. i know you have first-hand experience in dealing with what happens at IHOP, but then again, i have first-hand experience in seeing people delivered from their sins, and how much of a change that can take place when they accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. i’ve never been a proponent of religion, nor have i ever been tossed all over the place trying to find my spiritual “fix”. i prefer to stay grounded in Jesus Christ, and to do as He tells me to do.

as for the manifestations of God, i definitely believe that when a person gets delivered from years of abuse, no matter what form of abuse it is, there will be a physical manifestation of what God is doing in them. my mother told me that she had to be held down by 5 grown people when she was a teenager as she was being delivered from witchcraft and occultism. my mother is only 5 feet 2 inches tall.

i think the main reason why so many people in america don’t understand who God is and what God is really about is because of the spirit of religion that has hung over this country for so long. God isn’t really that mysterious if we just take the time to get to know Him. we may not know and understand why He does what He does, but that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t make Himself known to us, and that He’s not using IHOP to help so many people that are in serious need. believe this or not, but not every young person’s parents really understand the calling that is on their kid’s lives. not every young person that goes to IHOP has Christian parents that are full of the Holy Spirit. there’s way more young people out there that feel in their hearts that no one else understands them, and it’s because God has placed such a powerful calling on their lives, and there’s no one else around them that can help unlock that calling in their lives.

My reply:

Dear Anonymous,

I generally don’t approve comments like yours because I decided when I created this blog that the comments section would not be a discussion board for people to berate each other and debate opinions. However, I decided to use your comment in a blog post because there are a few things that I want you (and others who read this post) to understand and hopefully I can address your questions and concerns. My disclaimer however is that should any subsequent comments follow (from anyone) that do not a) speak the truth in LOVE and b) address issues by lining them up with scripture without attacking people I will not approve them. So that being said, here is my reply:

In your opening sentence you said: “I understand what you’re saying about IHOP but what right do you have judging their methods?”

There is a clearly stated directive in scripture to believers that we are to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves and we have a responsibility to discern what is of G-d and what is not by judging fruit. I address this in a few other blog posts which you are welcome to read for more detail. To blow the whistle on things that do not line up with the Word of G-d or what He has told us to do, how He has told us to follow and serve Him, etc. is part of being a follower of G-d. There is a big difference however between judging actions, methods and teachings vs. judging and condemning people. I discuss that in detail in this post. So you ask what right I have to judge IHOP’s methods? According to Matt 7:15, 20 and Romans 16:17,18 I do have that right because in these verses we are instructed to watch out for bad fruit, watch out for wolves who masquerade as sheep and to recognize & stay away from those who ensnare by false teaching.

2 Timothy 4:3 says “For a time is coming when people will not have patience for sound teaching, but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers who say whatever their ears itch to hear. Yes, they will stop listening to the truth, but will turn aside to follow myths.”

If common sense, which you say that we all have, were all that was required to discern between what is of G-d and what is not then there would be no need for the work of a Savior. I assure you that many have become deceived and have fallen into great error not only through IHOP’s teaching but from various other organizations and their common sense and objectivity is certainly not saving them.

As I have mentioned a few times in various blog posts, G-d can use any place or person He chooses to minister to His people but that place, person or avenue that He allowed to operate is not the source. G-d spoke through a burning bush and through a donkey but that’s because He spoke to His children through where they were at that moment. Of course G-d was able to speak to me and work in my life while I was at IHOP but He ministered to me there because that’s where I was at the time. I can tell you with a great degree of confidence though that it was because I was seeking to hear from HIM and not from IHOP that when I was studying scripture and listening for His voice and what I was hearing at IHOP was not lining up with that, it made the choice to leave much easier because my source for teaching and direction was the Father and not IHOP.

You said that “there are certain elements at IHOP that can appear to be a form of witchcraft but I am certainly not going to judge them for that”. Honestly, that shocks and greatly concerns me. If you can see things that do not line up with the Word of G-d and yet refuse to call them what they are, then by not separating yourself from them, you are remaining involved there and participating in the very witchcraft that you refuse to acknowledge and identify. I pray that the L-rd turns your heart on this one and that you receive boldness from Him to identify and address that which is not of Him. As His followers, we are called to love what He loves and hate what He hates. Imagine what would have happened if the apostles had turned a deaf ear to the false teaching running rampant in their day by saying “Oh yes, he’s a sorcerer but I’m not going to judge him for that.” (Acts 13:8-12)

Yes, of course I realize that IHOP is led by imperfect people. I know of no home, ministry, business or organization anywhere that is run by anything but imperfect people. I assure you that this blog is not an attack against anyone’s humanity or the fallible and imperfect nature that comes from being part of the human race. What I am addressing is the blatant heresy, error, deception and scripture twisting that run rampant in places like IHOP which is leading people by the thousands into following a different gospel. There is a very distinct difference between those who are wholeheartedly seeking to know what is true and are following G-d as He is taught about in scripture (rather than following their own forms, models and methods and calling them worship) VS. those who are clearly walking in error and practicing things that are not scriptural and defending deception by calling it truth. There is a major distinction between those who live a daily life of trusting G-d as their source who are quick to turn from things that do not please Him and who get back up with then fall as opposed to one who excuses their doctrinal heresies as merely “being imperfect” or “just being human”. One is a sincere walk of faith lived out by imperfect people and the other is one who has created their own version of following G-d and are leading others to follow their ministry…and not the L-rd.

A physical manifestation of being set free from something is ultimately to no longer walk in the thing you have been set free from. The manifestation of freedom is good fruit. In scripture, the manifestations of flailing, shaking, falling, being violent, or a myriad of other bodily manifestations were the result of demons being cast out of people. Yes, these are certainly born out in scripture as manifestations of deliverance. However, this is quite different from the obnoxious animal sounds, gyrations and other ‘manifestations’ which many people seek after to “feel G-d” in a service which do nothing but draw attention to self and open doorways into some pretty major demonic practices. In Luke 8 when Jesus cast demons out of a man and sent them into a herd of pigs, scripture tells us that when people went out to see what had happened, they saw the man whom the demons had been cast out of sitting at the feet of the L-rd, fully clothed and in his right mind. That is the manifestation of true freedom.

I do agree with you that religious spirits have blinded many to the truth of who G-d is and what He is really about. We may not always know or understand everything He does but scripture clearly teaches us enough about His nature and character and the heart behind why He does things that there is strong evidence to measure false teachings up against to disprove them as being of G-d.

I do know that there are many young people today whose parents don’t understand them and who may not understand the destiny of G-d on their lives but there is only ONE who does and that is the L-rd (Jeremiah 29:11). The Spirit of G-d is the one who was given to “unlock that calling on our lives” to us as you put it. Everyone I have personally known that has been part of IHOP and left would probably agree with me when I tell you that IHOP’s means of helping to “crack the code on your destiny” and tell you who you are and what you are called to do will always fit right into one of IHOP’s programs. Somehow, all of their prophetic words while I was there lined up with “G-d has called you to be an Anna in the prayer room.” Whatever your gift, it seems they will try to convince you that it will best flourish and be used at IHOP. This is a prime example of what I said about those who lead people to themselves and not the L-rd. The Father has a plan and a purpose for each and every person He has created and He is faithful to complete the work that He starts. One of the things that concerns me most is that many will miss the destiny and calling of G-d on their lives because they are spending hours and hours sitting in a prayer room under a lot of deceptive and false teaching instead of living the life that G-d called them to. That is the most sobering issue of all. Thanks for sharing your perspective and hopefully this helps to address some of your questions and concerns.

Blessings to you as you seek to know the truth and may it set your heart free.

    Elizabeth,
You and your husband did the absolute right thing in leaving the church you were at — which was lifting up New Age IHOP.

    IHOP absolutely IS a cult.

Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that yes, it destroys families – IF the family members disagree with leaders Mike Bickle and Allen Hood and…. voice their concerns to their IHOP-intern-family-member.

We were warned in the NT that a great, great deception would occur in the last days – that if it were possible… it would deceive –>even the elect.
There’s a lot of IHOPers who believe that THEY ARE “THE elect”. After all, they’re FORERUNNERS!

You guys did good getting out. I praise Him for that.

  2. Elizabeth says:

Thank you so much for sharing such personal information about your experiences with IHOP. A new minister came into our church in July 2009. I struggled with her almost immediately. I prayed for a long time, as did my husband, and we came to the conclusion that she is not preaching the Gospel. Around January 2010, I heard her start speaking about IHOP. I started doing research on the group back then, and discovered your blog at that time. My husband is a truck driver and listens to a lot of ministry types of programs on satellite radio, and also believes IHOP is a cult based up on what he’s heard. I shared your blog with him. We left that church in late January.

Last night I felt compelled to drive past our old church and saw three garage-sale type signs stuck in the yard. Guess what? Yep, IHOP is coming. This weekend. A group from KC and prayer teams. And a few weeks ago, I noticed they had rented a store front along my route to work. I guess they’re moving into Des Moines, Iowa.

I feel sick. And I have cautiously reached out to one family I know who is still attending our old church (many, many people have left), and my friend who is the church secretary. I’ve asked them to be careful, to be on guard, and forwarded your blog to them. I just asked them to consider the information and told them I wanted them to be very informed.

    • Ariel says:

Wow Elizabeth! Thanks for sharing. I know how hard it is to see those you love and care about so much walking into such deception and feeling powerless to prevent or stop it. Thank you for sharing my blog with your friends. I hope they keep their eyes open and their ears tuned to the Spirit of G-d for guidance & direction.

      • Elizabeth says:

Thank you Ariel. It is, or maybe I should say was, a United Methodist Church. The new minister has preached off of half-truth email forwards, and has gone so far as to tell people that a “Christian medical doctor” at a conference she attended said people shouldn’t take anti-depressants. Turns out this so-called medical doctor has a PhD in speech therapy. When these errors have been pointed out to her, she doesn’t care. I can easily see how she is getting swept up into the frenzy. Although we don’t attend anymore, we did make the decision to contact our local conference and let them know. Is it just tattling? I don’t know, but I do know that people who I love and care about are getting swept up in her blind following.

    Merlin,

Google Rick Warren and Contemplative. Here’s a couple links: http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/warrenquotes.html
This one from Lighthouse Trails is very eye opening as well: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/warrentwo.htm

Rick is also an advocate of ‘breath prayers’ which are another short form of Contemplative prayer/TM (Transcendental Meditation). Both are HIGHLY New Age and very, very destructive to the church – to the body of Christ.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

  4. Merlin says:

    Hi,
I was surprised to hear about Rick Warren being promoting non biblical church….He is one of my ideal pastor & I love browsing through his teachings…pls elaborate. Thanks .

    • Sara says:

I have read several times that Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, which is an elitist group who believes in one world government. Go on their website and you will read all of this.
Read this and read between the lines:
      http://www.cfr.org/publication/9903/sovereignty_and_globalisation.html

They also want to implement a North America Union:
      http://www.cfr.org/publication/8102

Rick Warren is also a big promoter of ecumenism and he is pushing for religious unity and cooperation. Which is not Biblical at all!
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecumenism
      http://emerging-church.blogspot.com/2006/12/purpose-driven-ecumenism.html

I have also read he is member of Tony Blair’s Faith Foundation that is into a global religion and interfaithism. If you understand Bible Prophecy even a little bit, then you should know that Revelation 13 tells us about one world government, religion and economy.
Rick Warren seems to be one who is on a path of supporting these things. I would not trust him. That is not to say he does not teach some truth, but like many of these people, it’s just not the whole truth, the whole council of scripture.
I would do my own research if I were you.
      God bless, Sara

  5. Sara says:

    Hi Ariel,

I would also like permission to repost what Jan has said here. Her’s is an excellent assessment of how Satan is using the New Age movement to bring about the huge end time delusion.

Nathan Leal of Watchmans Cry did a related audio recording called “Message 147: The Coming New World Order / New Age of Death, War & Depopulation” I recommend it!

    http://www.watchmanscry.com/audio.html

I believe this whole New Age movement and “New wines skins” and “New move of Spirit” and that whole ball of wax IS the end time deluding influence spoken of in 2 Thes 2:11-12 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Basically what we really have going on today is the latest version of the golden calf is in the making. The Israelites would not WAIT on God so they made their own god and in their own image and proceeded to worship it. And since there is nothing new under the sun, today we have a people who will not wait on God and they are making their own god and creating and manifesting their own signs and wonders by tapping into a satanic source.

We are warned repeatedly in the New Testament about deception.
    Jesus warns- Mat 24- verses 4, 5, 10, 11, 24
    Paul warns- Act 20: 29-30, 1 Tim 4:1-2, 2 Tim 4:1-5
    Peter warns- 2 Peter 1:12, 2 Peter 2:3, 2 Timothy 3:1-2, 2 Peter 3:15-18
    John warns- 2 John 1:9-10
Jude warns- Jude 1:1-4, Jude 17-19

Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason (http://www.str.org/ ) writes about 2 Timothy: “In Paul’s final warning to the church, he does not counsel them to face the challenges of the future by embracing new movements of the Spirit. Instead, he tells them to look backwards, to continue in and guard what has already been revealed. This is Paul’s message throughout his entire letter. Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me (1:13). Guard…the treasure which has been entrusted to you (1:14). And the things which you have heard from me…these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also (2:2). Paul warns of a time of moral chaos falling on the world and theological chaos falling on the church. The antidote for both is the same: Steady at the helm. Guard what has already been entrusted to you. Continue in the things which you have already learned. Everything we need to be fruitful and productive, to be trained in righteousness, to be adequately equipped for every good work, has already been revealed.”

    Jeremiah also warned us!
Jer 6:16 Thus says the LORD: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way [is], And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk [in it].’
17 Also, I set watchmen over you, [saying], ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’

Stay strong, stay stead and do not compromise!!
    In Christ, Sara

  6. sadparent says:

Ariel, I’d like permission to post Jan’s comments in my blog.

I’d be writing all morning if I wrote comments on each point I agree with that Jan said. One thing I did want to address was Jan’s point: “Therefore the Church is becoming MILITANT against itself. Rick Warren, Mike Bickle and Rick Joyner push the agenda to eliminate the ‘old wineskins”, those who are in the way of the coming “Global Church”.

This coincides with what I’ve read about the Joel’s Army teaching, and I half way expect some form of violence in the future from IHOP attendees. They’ll be able to ‘overtake the wealth of the ungodly’ (people who disagree with Bickle’s teachings) if they truly believe it’s God telling them to do it — and this is where the violence would come in. AND MAYBE I’M WRONG – so don’t any IHOPpers jump on me – but that’s what it looks like so far from what I’ve been reading about it.

That plus Bickle teaching the IHOPpers to get in close, daily contact with familiar spirits via Contemplative prayer – which is so “demonically blessed”..it makes my skin crawl. But he is really giving them that superiority, supremacy feeling over anyone, any BELIEVER who is NOT an IHOPper.

Let me know if it’s ok to post Jan. Thanks.

  7. Jan says:

Mike Bickle is a false prophet. He, along with Rick Joyner are channeling dreams and visions from demonic forces. Mike has been preaching the same ‘messages’ as occultic mediums Jane Lead and Alice Bailey. Sensual passion for Jesus, the Elijah List, “Sauls vs the Davids”, Davidic Warfare, a coming “global” church, paradigm shift, transition, are connected to the occultic agenda to bring in the antichrist, called NEW BEGININNGS! Apostates like Rick Joyner dismisses the Rapture which puts the Church on the same bandwagon as the occultics and the world in looking for “the King”. THE FALSE KING! Scripture tells us that Jesus comes as the bridegroom first, then as King at HIs second coming. Any other “King” coming before, is the Man of Sin masquerading as the Man of Peace the Bible warns about. Others view the “no Rapture” view as the opportunity for the Church to ‘execute judgment against evil”. This is true, but its not what the Church of God will do! It’s the Harlot Church who will execute judgment, but it will be against anyone who goes by the written Word of God!
What many do not know is that Bickle, Joyner and Warren are literally putting the occultic agenda, “NEW BEGINNINGS” into the Church disguised as the “Gospel”. “New Gospel”, “New Jesus”, “New Rain of the Spirit” “New Fresh Word” “New Level”, “New Jesus”, “New Word of the Lord” are just some of the suspect terms in the Church today that come straight the New Age Movement . Bickle’s “Birthing the Global church” is the same as the occultic ‘birthing the One World Church.” Bickle’s Feast of Tabernacles is also the same as the occultic Planetary Pentecost! Bickle’s “Corporate Christ” is the same as the occultic “Cosmic Christ!” Now he is promoting contemplative prayer, the same that mystics use. Romans tells us to contend for doctrine but now Bereans are called Heresy Hunters!
The Bible tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is self control but Bickle tells us its screaming, fainting, shaking, jerking and changes in skin color!? ! The Bible tells us to be sober but Bickle promotes drunkeness from the “New Wine” that churches around the world are partaking of. This literally is the world consuming the One World Philosophy that Jesus warned would come. God help those who have fallen for these doctrines of demons that Timothy and Paul warned us about! Many, now in IHOP wear Masonic rings, declare an unhealthy ‘lovesickness’ for Jesus, and focus more on experience than they do the written Word of God. “God” must ‘prove Himself’ every Sunday with outrageous ‘miracles’.
If you research occultic medium Alice Bailey, the three things she channeled from Satan that had to happen for the antichrist and his kingdom to come are: “Inclusiveness”. We now see the Church becoming UNIVERSAL. Doctrinal differences are being erased so everyone can join in. The second thing she said that has to happen, is the “Eradication of written Truth”: Biblical doctrine. This is happening two-fold. The fundamental church (enter Rick Warren) is promoting non Biblical, watered down ‘translations’ of Scripture. The charismatic church is slowly eradicating the Logos so as to completely look to spirit realm revelations only. So the Church is becoming OCCULTIC. The third thing Alice Bailey predicted was the coming mystical change of men: “TRANSFORMATION”. To the pseudo Christian this word means “worshipping in altered states of consciousness”, “entering heaven to receive messages from the spirit world’, and receiving power to control nature or to read someone’s mind. To the occultic, transformation means complete demonic mind control in order to follow the antichrist. Churches today are teaching the youth that ‘worship’ is hysteria and loss of the senses, therefore literally preparing unbelievers for occultic mind control. This ‘transformation’ is rendering many to lean toward the occultic agenda to eradicate the need for written Truth and fight ‘evil’ (anyone who doesn’t adhere to the Rhema (voice of God). This is not the true Rhema of God, but Satanic. Therefore the Church is becoming MILITANT against itself. Rick Warren, Mike Bickle and Rick Joyner push the agenda to eliminate the ‘old wineskins”, those who are in the way of the coming “Global Church”. Nowhere in Scripture does it tell us of a great Harvest and a “Global Church of God” in the end days. Jesus said “men would wax worse and worse.” He also said that MANY false prophets would arise, deceiving many by signs and wonders! Yet, Bickle and Joyner and others are misleading millions because they go by spirit realm ‘revelations’ instead of the Truth of the written Word. There are many God-loving people who have been brain washed by these false teachers and Jesus warned us that in the last days, men would no longer follow sound doctrine.” (II Timothy 4) “Come out of her, my people…” Revelation 18:4

  8. Vince says:

I’ll be honest and say I didn’t read the entire comment left by “Anonymous” simply because it was too long, which tells me “defensive.”

Mike Bickle has gone on record to say, “IHOP ministry will only attract 1% of the Christian teenager and that’s good because that’s probably all who are called for this type of ministry.” I think he is right, which means when I see a youth group where 7%-10% of them want to go and intern……something isnt right.
Every young person I’ve seen go to IHOP and come back……I don’t see “good” fruit. They normally come back, dishonoring they church, the leadership and authority because no one else “gets it”.
For those reasons, I’m not a fan of IHOP, sure there has got to be some good come from it, but like anything in life good pushed to the extreme is bad.

  9. Ann says:

Thank you so much for your thoughts on IHOP. Our pastor is going “hard” after all things IHOP because of some prophecies he has received even though some are questioning his decisions but of course are made to feel that they are interfering with the will of G-d. I have been torn what to do, even if I should take my children and go somewhere else. It’s so hard to leave everyone I know and start again. I just need to be absolutely sure and your comments line up with what I have been feeling but unable to express even to myself. Of course, I have been made to feel like I have a religious spirit. I have not felt free to discuss this but not too long ago it came up in our prayer group, which is small, & no one was pleased & thought we were “out of balance” with IHOP but felt that G-d is bringing some around to see the pastor’s way. It seems that we are totally a different body than we were a year ago and everything now is about an elite group of youth and how to attract them. I’ve really been depressed about this situation and confused which I know is not G-d. Any more info you can give about what you know or have experienced would greatly be appreciated.

Ann, thank you for sharing your story. I’m so sorry to hear about what you are going through with your church. That is a very difficult place to be and I have experienced it first hand so I completely relate to the emotional roller coaster you are no doubt on right now. Starting over is hard to do. From my own experience, I came to a place where I realized that if I was seeking to know truth and was part of a congregation that was not then we were not walking the same direction. Amos 3:3 says that two can’t walk together unless they be agreed on where they are going. So I knew my heart wasn’t in a safe place. The truth of scripture was not being upheld and taught. Truth gave way to the doctrines of man and chaos was the result. Sadly, what your congregation is experiencing is becoming increasingly common. When we take our eyes off of the Father and start marketing truth like the Home Shopping Network we have polluted the message and misrepresented the nature of the Father. I know how confusing this place is that you are in and I hope that you find encouragement not just in what you read on my blog but that the L-rd will surround you with like-hearted believers who share your love for truth and who will walk through this time with you. Blessings to you Ann!

  11. Annunk says:

    Dear “Anonymous”,

You’re saying that a spirit of religion is what’s keeping people from realizing who God is, right? Well, I have a question for you. What is your approximate age? What type of church did you go to prior to IHOP? What did you personally see that you viewed to be part of a religious spirit?

You’re right in saying that God isn’t mysterious. Getting to know Him, however, is something you cannot do if you’re not IN His word. [Study to show thyself approved.] And He is also not an “instant pudding” type of ‘force’ where you always get ‘instant results’ on every prayer that comes out of your mouth.

I do disagree with you on your saying that God is “using” IHOP. There is nowhere in scripture where He USES occult practices in doing His own will. IHOP, USES occult practices. Therefore, IHOP is not a God inspirited “ministry”.
Mike Bickle and Allen Hood are deeply involved in and are teaching occult practices EVERY time they promote the practice of “Contemplative Prayer”. Anon, if you’re doing that, you’re not talking to or hearing from God – you’re talking to and hearing from familiar spirits. Do you know what they are?

You’re saying there’s way more young people out there that feel in their hearts that no one else understands them. You probably won’t believe this but believe it or not, THAT is exactly how youth/20’s+ have felt about their parents at least since as long as I have been alive – and I’m guessing that would be your age +40. You’re not saying anything kids haven’t felt before. That’s just a part of living and, you do eventually realize that your parents loved you and were always there for you.

On top of that, let me tell you that IHOP has broken apart solid CHRISTIAN, families (note that’s more than 1) where Mom and Dad were Spirit filled Christians. But the non-IHOP 1/2 of the family was not IHOP supporting… End result? IHOP LEADERship told the interns it was “God’s will” to DIShonor their parents and cut off relationships with them. Anon, THAT WOULD MEAN that God’s word is incorrect (Honor thy father and thy mother..) and God is a liar – according to what IHOP is saying is His will.

You said, “God has placed such a powerful calling on their lives, and there’s no one else around them that can help unlock that calling in their lives” — WHAT YOU’RE SAYING is that God’s hands are tied. He’s placed a powerful calling on someone’s life – but there’s no one around to help UNLOCK that calling except at IHOP. . .

OK, so IHOP, using its occult practice of contemplative prayer, (which Mike Bickle openly says cannot be found in scripture anywhere), is how God is going to help train up this powerful minister, right? And the person they’re hearing from when they pray this way..is a familiar spirit..who has, coincidentally, advised they cut off communication with their parents (which goes against God’s word, but it feels right so it must be of God). Is that what you’re saying?

Thank you for this post, Ariel.
